How to Make the Most of the Business Card Party

A networking event is only as valuable as the connections you follow up on. A few tips to get the most out of the afternoon:

1. Bring plenty of cards. Plan on at least 50. Running out halfway through is a missed opportunity. Digital cards are welcome too.
2. Make your card easy to act on. Include your name, what you do, your phone, email and website. A QR code that links to your website, booking page or social media makes it even easier.
3. Have a 15-second introduction ready. Who you are, who you help and how. Keep it simple and friendly.
4. Ask questions and listen. The best connections start with genuine curiosity about what other people are building.
5. Write a quick note on the back of the cards you collect, like where you met or what you talked about, so you remember later.
6. Follow up within 48 hours. A short email, text or LinkedIn message turns a handshake into a real relationship.
